If you love prose poems as much as we do, and we’re betting you do since you’re here, or if you would like to learn more about what a prose poem is, this is a book you need to have.

The Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Prose Poetry, edited by Gary L. McDowell and F. Daniel Rzicznek, is jam packed with essays from some of today’s most distinguished practitioners of the craft and form of prose poetry, essays that are themselves beautiful and evocative. And each essay is followed by a selection of the author’s own prose poems. The title says it all, it really is a field guide to prose poetry.

Also, this is not one of those craft books with a disappointing amount of material. I did not want this book to end, and I was pleasantly surprised by the length. And even now, after having read it, I carry it with me and go back to it often.
